General Information of Harbin Medical University


Harbin Medical University is located in Harbin, the ice city of the Northland. It is a medical institution of higher learning with profound historical and cultural heritage. It is composed of Harbin Medical College founded by Chinese medical pioneer Dr. Wu Liande in 1926 and the first and second branches of Xingshan China Medical University.

The university has 19 secondary departments and 8 institutions. There are 10 affiliated hospitals, including 5 directly affiliated hospitals. Chinese Government Scholarship:

Ⅰ . Application

The applicants should send their applications in time to the College of International Education (hereinafter referred to as CIE) of HMU before May 31st, 2020.

Ⅱ . Eligibility

1. Applicants must be non-Chinese nationals in good health.

2. Education background required and age limit:

Applicants for bachelor degree studies must have senior school graduation certification;

Applicants for master degree studies must have bachelor’s degree and be under the age of 35;

Applicants for doctoral degree studies must have master’s degree and be under the age of 40.

Ⅲ Details of the Scholarship

1. Exempt from registration fee, tuition fee, fee for laboratory experiment, internship fee and accommodation fee;

Heilongjiang Provincial Government Scholarship Program


Harbin Medical University is an institution admitting international students under the Heilongjiang Provincial Government Scholarship Program.

HMU has been established in 1926. It is one of the well-known and reputed medical universities in China. It is also a key “Project 211” university in Heilongjiang Province.


There are 19 affiliated institutions of HMU. It is include School of Basic Medical Sciences, School of Public Health, School of Pharmacy, five medical schools (affiliated hospitals), etc. Organizations based in HMU include Center for Endemic Disease Control of CDC, National Research Center for Clinical Trial of New Drugs, and Russian Language Training Center of the Ministry of Health, Heilongjiang Branch of China Medical Academy and Heilongjiang Provincial Medical Academy.

By the end of 2018, HMU had recruited and trained over 600 international students from over 30 countries.
