Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications is located in Nanjing, the ancient capital of the Six Dynasties. It was originally under the direct administration of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and is now jointly established by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the State Post Bureau and the People’s Government of Jiangsu Province. It is a comprehensive key university with information technology as the characteristics, work and engineering as the main body, multiple disciplines such as science, engineering, economics, management, culture, education, art, and law, and the coordinated development of multi-level post-doctoral, doctoral, master's and undergraduate education.It is also a famous university selected as the first national "double first-class" world-class discipline construction, the first national "2011 Plan" construction, the national "111 Plan" construction, the first academic member of the International Telecom Union, the construction of the "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Plan" of the Ministry of Education, and a high-level university in Jiangsu Province. At present, 4 disciplines have entered the top 1% of the ESI discipline rankings in the world, and has 1 national key discipline (cultivation point), and 22 national first-class majors.
The school actively promotes international exchanges and cooperation. It recruits overseas students at the three levels of undergraduate, master, and doctoral degrees. The students come from more than 60 countries such as Russia and Kazakhstan. There are currently more than 600 international students in the school. More than 1,000 foreign (overseas) experts and scholars have come to the school to participate in international conferences, lectures and visits. There are currently more than 70 student overseas exchange programs.The school is actively involved in various conferences organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), undertakes the training tasks of the Asia Pacific Telecommunications Organization (APT) in China, and participates in the formulation of relevant international standards in the field of communication.
